What is a vacuum pump? What is a vacuum pump?
Vacuum pump's English name is Vacuum Pump
Vacuum pumps are indispensable equipment in many production processes, from food packaging to drying electronic components, bottling machines to biogas production. As an authorized Elmo Rietschle distributor, we provide vacuum solutions for your applications. Whether your system requires dry running or oil lubrication, low noise output or a small footprint, we can support your needs and your industry. Direct Air offers a range of vacuum technologies including claws, fluid rings, rotary vanes (oil lubricated and dry running) and screws.
List of types of vacuum pumps
Rotary vane vacuum pump - rotary vane vacuum pump
Belongs to the V Series line
Environmentally friendly oil-lubricated or dry-running vane vacuum pumps are used for vacuum, pressure applications.
- Low noise level
- Powerful and economical
- Long time use
- Easy to operate
- Easy to maintain
- Low oil consumption on oil-lubricated pumps
Operating principle:
Increasing pressure by decreasing volume is the principle of vane vacuum pump operation. The rotor is placed off-center so that the top almost touches the cylinder. The vanes are located inside the rotor slots. When the rotor begins to rotate, due to centrifugal force, the vanes are thrown out and slide against the cylinder's inner surface. In this way, a sealed vacuum mold is formed between the two blades with a continuously changing volume during rotation.
Air passes from the port into the vacuum chamber until the rear wing reaches the far end of the inlet port. At this point, the vacuum chamber has reached its maximum air volume. As air moves out of the port, its volume becomes smaller and smaller, so the air is compressed and the pressure increases. Some models are fitted with outlet valves next to the outlet port to prevent backflow of exhaust gas once maximum pressure has been reached. After passing through the outlet port and outlet valve, the oil-gas mixture reaches the de-oiling chamber, where the oil is separated from the gas in two steps.
Larger oil droplets are separated from the gas and deposited in the oil residue receiver. The remaining oil gas mixture is passed through oil filter cores to separate the smallest oil particles. They are then fed through an oil suction tube into the pump's oil circuit. Gas that is virtually oil-free can be vented to the outside through the air outlet.
Liquid ring vacuum pump - Liquid ring vacuum pump
Belongs to the L-Series line
Principle:
The compression process in the L-Series pumps follows the fluid ring principle. The impeller is the only moving part inside the pump. It rotates without contact with the pump housing. A rotating ring of fluid seals the impeller on the front and glues its blades together.
To keep the fluid loop stable, the fluid is also permanently drawn into the compression chamber and discharged along with the conveyed gas. The radial arrangement of the impeller inside the casing creates compression chambers that change between the impeller during rotation, which causes the conveyed gas to be compressed during one complete revolution. The L-BV series features a patented exhaust air cooling system that returns condensed water to the condenser.
Industrial screw vacuum pumps - Industrial screw vacuum pumps
Belongs to the S-Series line
The S-VSI screw vacuum pump (sizes 100 and 300) represents cutting-edge, modern dry-running technology when it comes to small carbon emissions and low life-cycle costs.
It is used in many industrial applications such as drying and packaging. The S-VSA and S-VSB dry-running, non-contact screw vacuum pumps are primarily used in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries for process applications.
Cannot be contaminated with oil or other operating fluids
USE:
- Run dry
- High vacuum in one stage
- Application specific options
- Vacuum generation time is short due to high suction power
Side Channel vacuum pump and blower
Elmo Rietschle's G-Series operates day in and day out with virtually no downtime. Side Channel pumps and blowers are available in a variety of performance ranges to meet any requirement, up to 3000 m3\h and differential pressure up to 1000 mbar.

Advantages:
- Reliable and built to last
- Virtually maintenance free
- Strong yet lightweight
- Speed adjustable via external or built-in adapter
- Motor voltage range 50/60 Hz
Rotary vane vacuum pump
R-Series: Rotary Lobe Pumps These dry-running positive displacement pumps require no oil or grease in the compression chamber. Only the gearbox and bearings, which are separated from the pump chamber, are lubricated with oil. Two non-contacting three-lobed rotating rotors rotate in opposite directions in the compression room. Rotary lobe pumps can be used in many industrial applications requiring coarse or fine vacuum. Advantages Powerful and economical Dry running Modular design Frequency control available

Claw vacuum pumps - Claw vacuum pumps
C-Series: Claw Vacuum Pumps feature the C-VLR Elmo Rietschle Vacuum Pump series

C-Series dry pumps and compressors produce contactless vacuum or compressed air efficiently and economically. This is possible due to the principle of internal compression. The gas is first compressed in the compression chamber and then discharged.
Dry stroke pumps are energy efficient and highly efficient compared to traditional rotary pneumatic blower designs without the need for internal compression.
Advantages:
- Dry, contactless operation
- Energy efficient design
- Low sound level
- Low cost of ownership
